How to Take Control of Your Temper

Getting angry is a normal reaction to things that goes against your expectations, when you are exposed to your darker side or when you are given an unjustified treatment by anyone. The important thing is how you manage it, as your relationships, your future and your present all depend on your temperament. If you react fierce and talk without even thinking you have more chances to regret later on.

Self-control

Self-control means that one knows how to control his emotions, his actions and the thoughts. The one who can’t control these things often get trapped in his words, thoughts and acts and pay heavy costs by facing the undesired consequences. If a man does not control his temper, it is a sad admission that he is not in control of his thoughts. – Ezra Taft Benson

Think about the consequences

A person when losses his temper fails to realize the reality facts and act unthoughtful that can make him pay later own. You might say something you shouldn’t or do something you wouldn’t imagine when you are under the spell of bad temper, so whenever you lose your mind make sure you think about the consequences of whatever you do or say.

Cry

Anger not expressed is like a volcano, don’t keep it inside you and just let it go once for all. Cry if you can’t do anything else, it will make you feel better.

Think before you speak!

The smart people also weight their words before they speak and that’s saves them from embarrassment, disrespect and any problem a person can encounter because of him mouth. “Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret.”

WAIT before you react

Anger put your mind on fire and you forget that what you are not supposed to do, and will not find any justification for in the future, so the best thing amid anger is staying quiet and waiting for temper to go down and then you can talk about the problem in a better and effective way.

Stay calm

Don’t let your temper make you sick and stay calm, if you get angry too frequently you might need to practice yoga or other unwinding activities too often.
