5 Ways to Treat a Fever Naturally

Fever is a natural way of a healthy body to fight against a virus or infection, however high temperature can be dangerous for anyone especially the children. Fever within range of 99 degrees to 101 degrees doesn’t really require a treatment or medication but if you feel uneasy or troubled you can cure it at home as there is number of simple and easy home remedies that can magically help in taking the fever down.

Soak yourself

Add a half cup of vinegar in the Luke warm water and soak yourself in that water for some time it helps in reducing fever instantly.

Wet socks or wet towel treatment

This is folk method of taking fever down, this is now been proven by the scientist and the physicians now suggest to give patient the treatment of wet towel or wet socks. Take clean cloth/socks and sock in the cold running water. Wear the socks for the whole night and cover your feet under blanket, It sucks out the fever out of the body and give relieve.

Food that help

Your body needs Vitamin C to fight fever and infection, choose fruits like Oranges, berries, watermelon, cantaloupe etc; it will also keep the body hydrated. Avoid eating heavy and fatty food in fever as your body’s whole energy will be consumed in digesting that food and no energy will be left to fight against the fever. In addition to that Spicy food can also help in curing fever.

Drink a bowl of bone broth

Elders were always right about the chicken broth, it really cure fever and flu like viral diseases and infections. Studies has proven the medicinal properties of chick broth, now you need to make sure is the ingredients you are using are easily digestible and healthy, you can add protein in soup by adding scrambled egg or meat or chicken.

Tea for fever

One of the most used home remedy for fever is herbal tea that can be made at home or it can be bought from the pharmacy. The following are some herbal tea remedies to take care of high body temperature.

Soak 25 raisins in half a cup of water. Crush the raisins into the water and strain. Add the juice from a half of a lime to the water and drink twice a day.

Add one teaspoon of mustard seeds to one cup of hot water, steep for five minutes, and then drink.

Basil tea

Peppermint or spearmint tea

Ginger

You can add lemon and honey for enhancing taste.

Other tips:

Place a slice of onion on the beneath each foot and wrap feet in a warm blanket.

This works in less than 20 minutes. Slice a potato and soak the slices in vinegar for ten minutes. Then place the slices on the forehead, place a washcloth on top.

Sprinkle “cayenne pepper” on your foods when you have a fever.
