How to Cool the Sunburns Immediately?


Sunburns cause red, itchy skin which is quite irritating and painful. They sometimes may also cause sunburn blisters which bring too much burning and pain. Sunburns take place when the skin is exposed into the sun for longer hours. Its ultraviolet rays become the reason of severe skin infection. Sunburns also dehydrate the body, and produce freckles, wrinkles, scares and even skin cancers especially when exposed to the sun on regular basis.

Getting rid of sunburn is not at all difficult. In case of emergency, you need to note down the following home remedies for sunburn that will give you relief from all the symptoms of sunburn:

Place cool compress

Cool compress helps a lot in cooling down the areas which are infected by the sunburns. Take cool water and soak a washed cloth in it. You can also use the towel. Squeeze the excess water from the cloth and put it on the area. Let the cloth be there for few minutes and when it loses its coolness, soak it again and place there, do this 4-5 times. Do not use ice or iced water.

Take a cool shower

Sometimes sunburns take place on the areas where you can’t apply cool compress such as your back. In such case you should take a cool water bath for about 15-20 minutes. Don’t use any chemical product on your body such as soap or body wash etc. don’t take bath in warm water for next few days.

Use apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is one of the most effective remedy for sunburns. It has astringent properties which help in shrinking or constricting your body tissues and reducing the inflammation which is caused due to sunburns. Add one cup of apple cider vinegar in your bath tub and take bath with the water to promote the healing process.


Oats are another ingredient which is having anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties which make it a perfect natural cure for itchy and painful skin. Add one cup of oatmeal powder on your bath tub and take a bath.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is one of the most effective natural ingredients which helps in so many health problems including your skin. It contains 99% water and the rest is composed of minerals, vitamins, sodium, manganese, magnesium, calcium, copper, zinc, selenium, chrome, potassium, iron, amino acids and tannins.
