Foods to Avoid If You Have Joint Pain

Join pain can be caused from different situations, it can be due to arthritis, muscular pain or bursitis, regardless of the reason join pain is quite bothersome and a big hindrance in doing even small things which makes life dull and painful.

The best way to fight a health problem is adding or cutting the relevantly beneficial or problem making food. There is inflammatory food you shouldn’t consume if you have any joints related problem like Rheumatoid Arthritis. When you have Arthritis your body is already in inflammatory state and what you eat may increase inflammation. This is the reason it is important to watch with care what you shouldn’t eat.

The following are the foods one must not eat if having joint pain.

Sugar

The refined sugar is actually not good to consume, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition says that, processed sugars causes inflammation messengers called cytokines. The sugar is not the only name of sugar, it is being sold by many others too, watch any word that ends in “ose,” like fructose or sucrose on the ingredient label.

White flour (Refined Carbohydrates)

The products made of white flour like, bread, rolls and crackers etc and the food with refined carbohydrates e.g. white rice, white potatoes, cereals etc are found to be a cause of inflammation. In accordance with Scientific American, “Processed carbohydrates may trump fats as the main driver of escalating rates of obesity and other chronic conditions. These foods fuel the production of advanced non-enzymatic glycosylation end products that stimulate inflammation.”

Gluten (wheat, rye, barley)

Gluten (a protein found in wheat, rye and barley) and casein (Casein is found in whey protein products) may also induce inflammation. The doctors believe that effects can be worse for people living with arthritis who also have celiac disease and dairy intolerance.

Alcohol

The excessive use of alcohol affects the functions of liver, drinking too much alcohol can increase the amount of body’s levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), which is a powerful signal of inflammation. The study revealed that overconsumption of alcohol could increase inflammation and be detrimental RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis).

Omega 6

Our body needs balance of Omega 6 and Omega 3 for normal growth but excess of Omega 6 can provoke the body to create “Pro-inflammatory” chemicals. Omega 6 (the fatty acid) is found in abundance in oils like Corn, grape seeds, sunflower, peanut, soy and mayonnaise etc.

Red meat

Turning to veggies can reduce the symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis while the consumption of meat means the increase in overall calories and fats. Michet says, The fats in meat are more easily metabolized into pro-inflammatory chemicals in the body.” They can also cause excruciating inflammation and swelling in joints. Instead of eating meat exclusively, supplement your diet with plant sources of protein such as beans, lentils, and soy.

Processed food

Processed food and meal that come ready to eat or just require nominal cooking like instant noodles, pastas and macaronis are mostly loaded with ingredients that causes inflammation. These kinds of products are filled with sugar, refined flour, and saturated fats, making the food irresistible and Unhealthy.
