How to Get rid of dark Underarms


It is not a disease or medical condition to have dark coloration of skin in the region of underarms. It can be a response of your skin to certain elements such as ultraviolet rays.

Dark underarms may be embarrassing when you want to wear sleeveless outfit. This is a very common problem which may be caused due to excessive sweating, regular shaving, much use of hair removing creams, excessive sweating, poor ventilation of underarms, accumulation of dead skin cells, and use of alcohol-based deodorants and antiperspirants.

Getting rid of dark underarms is not much difficult. Simple natural ways that are safe, effective and affordable may help you in coping with this problem. But in some cases, it is some medical condition which causes dark underarms. This medical condition is known as acanthosis nigricans and is associated with obesity, hormonal disorder, insulin resistance, obesity, cancer, certain medications etc. if you find that your dark underarms are due to any of these conditions then you must consult a physician for proper check up and treatment.

Home remedies for dark underarms are:

Bleach your underarms with lemon

Lemon is something which helps in removing anything dark from your skin. It is a natural cleanser which possesses acidic, anti-septic and anti-bacterial properties. Acidic properties of lemon help in lightening your skin as well as exfoliating dead skin cells.

All you have to do is, take a thick slice f lemon and rub your underarm before going to bath and then apply some moisturizer after the bath because lemon makes your skin dry. repeat the procedure daily.

Don’t leave potatoes behind

Potatoes have bleaching properties and are considered as too effective bleaching agent. They are best for people with sensitive skin as they don’t cause irritation in skin.

This is how you can use potatoes for whitening your dark underarms:

Grate a potato and squeeze out the juice. Apply the juice to your darken underarms with the help of cotton ball or simply with the help of your finger. Wash it off after 10 minutes.

You can also rub a thick slice of potato in your underarm for about 5-10 minutes.

To get faster results, use the potatoes twice a day. by doing so, you can see the desired result in a week.

Use cucumber to get rid of dark underarms

Cucumber has skin lightening and bleaching properties. It can also be used by combining with lemon juice. Cucumber soothes your skin and avoids itching and irritation.

You can rub your underarms with thick slice of cucumber and then wash it with fresh water.

Or you may apply the pure juice if cucumber to your dark underarms. It lightens your dark underarms within a few days.

Take help with Baking Soda

Baking soda helps in making your underarms clear. It is an excellent scrub for your skin. It also helps in preventing body odor and also in getting rid of dead and damaged skin cells. It is also a germicide which kills the germ and provides you with clean and odorless underarms.

Mix baking soda with little water and wipe your underarms with the solution.

Another way is taking some soda and water together and making a thick paste of them. Apply it to your underarm and scrub the area. Wash off with cool water.

Orange peels for dark underarms

This is a fruity and fragrant treatment. Oranges have bleaching properties which help in lightening the color of underarms. Follow the given steps to prepare the scrub:

Dry the orange peels in shade and grind them to form a powder. Add some rose water and milk into the powder and mi0x well to make a thick paste. Apply the paste to your underarms and scrub the area for 10 minutes. Wash off with cold water.

Get milky white underarms with milk

Milk contains vitamin and fatty acids which help in lightening the dark skin. Add 2 tablespoon milk with 1 tablespoon of curd and 1 tablespoon flour to prepare a paste.  Apply it to your underarms and leave for 10-15 minutes. Wash off with fresh water.

You can also use other ingredients to get rid of dark underarms such as olive oil, coconut oil, vitamin E Oil, chickpea floor, some types of herbs and so on.
