Pomegranates, cultivated since ancient times, are a great source of vitamins, it carry Vitamin A, C, E and folic acid as well. It also have Antioxidant, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antitumor properties. There are numerous health benefits of pomegranates besides being tempting and delish. It is three times richer in antioxidants than green tea so you can say it is a complete blessing.

Pomegranates have several types and can be consumed in many ways. Ancient Egyptians value the pomegranate as a symbol of prosperity and ambition. According to the Ebers Papyrus, one of the oldest medical writings from around 1500 BC, Egyptians used the pomegranate for treatment of tapeworm and other infections.

Improves memory and prevent Alzheimer’s disease

It is been proved from many researches and studies that consumption of pomegranates gradually improves the memory. In a study in surgical patient, two grams of pomegranates helped in preventing deficit of memory after the surgery. It helps in improving the memory, as a study on elders revealed that 8 oz of pomegranate juice each day surprisingly improved the verbal and visual memory. It is proved that it prevents from Alzheimer’s disease.

Reduces possibility of premature birth

One of the best benefits of eating pomegranate is that it reduces the possibility of having premature baby and also improves the weight of the infants. The fruit is extremely good for immune system, the studies shown that Pomegranates has highly positive effects on bones as well which is absolutely very important for the growing infants.

Lowers the blood pressure

High blood pressure may cause many heart problems e.g., strokes and heart attack. A study confirms that, people with high blood pressure had a significant reduction after consuming 150 ml pomegranate juice daily for 2 weeks. The same result has been shown for systolic blood pressure. So we can conclude that, pomegranates reduce blood pressure and strengthen the heart.

Fight Arthritis and Joint Pain

The most common problem in the western countries is arthritis, there are different types of the disease but mostly have the inflammation in the joints that cause pain and distortion in even moving oneself. As mentioned above, pomegranates have anti-inflammatory qualities; it helps in fixing arthritis and joint pain. The laboratory studies have revealed that, “Pomegranate extract can block enzymes that are known for damaging joints in people with osteoarthritis.

Reduces heart disease

The world’s most common cause of “Premature death” is heart disease; about 610,000 people die of heart disease in the United States every year–that’s 1 in every 4 deaths. Cardiovascular diseases killed 17.5 million people in 2012 that is 3 in every 10 deaths. Of these, 7.4 million people died of Ischaemic heart disease and 6.7 million from stroke.
Pomegranate keeps the balance of blood flow in the body that subsequently decreases the risk of strokes and heart attacks. The antioxidant help to keep the bad cholesterol from achieving any serious presence and thus keep the arteries clear of any clots.

Prevent Cancers

This amazing fruit contains flavonoids, which is effective in counteracting various cancer radials. To prevent the high risk of prostate and breast cancer one should start drinking the juice of this fruit as it reduces the risk of cancer.
