Steroid injections are used by millions of bodybuilders and professional sportsmen around the world. There are two types of steroid injections. One type is which leave a long lasting effect while the other type is for a short time. Water-soluble, long lasting steroid injections are being used these days.

Steroid injections are injected into the muscles which you want to increase in volume. They are injected into triceps, biceps. Pectoral, deltoids, quadriceps, rectus abdomen and gastronomies muscle to increase muscle mass and improve athletic performance. People take steroids hoping that they will get their muscles built and performance improved but see how they affect the other body organs and overall health of a person.

They lead you to addiction

Steroids are addictive which means you need for more drugs to get more effects. Even when the doctors prescribe steroid drugs, they ask to come off the medication gradually reducing the dosage. Besides, they bring withdrawal symptoms if you stop taking them. Despite getting unpleasant and harmful side effects, a person becomes addicted to these steroids. If you come off the use of anabolic steroids at once, you may have a few withdrawal symptoms such as:

  • Anorexia
  • Decreased sex desire
  • Depression and stress
  • Anxiety
  • Headaches
  • Difficulty in concentration

They cause cardiovascular events

Steroids increase cholesterol level which builds up cholesterol on the walls of blood vessels which ultimately causes stroke. Heart muscles are damaged and so many other cardiovascular diseases are also caused.

Those who take steroids are often seen with violent and aggressive behaviors. High dosage can cause psychological effects and a very high level of anxiety. They lead you to sleep disorders, depression, mood swings etc.


Kidneys help in eliminating the waste materials from and regulating the level of water in your body. They also regulate blood pressure. Steroids cause kidney problems by causing increased blood clotting in your body. Kidneys need to work harder when the steroids are taken orally because it increases the requirement of filtering the blood. Those who use steroid injections, their body require taking high proteins due to weight training. High protein intake leads you to kidney stones.


Liver is the largest organ of the body which is used to filter the poisonous wastes from the blood and store numerous nutrients which body used for its growth and obtaining energy. It also manages the level of all kinds of elements in the body. It produces bile which helps in food digestion. Steroids cause huge liver damage and even cancer.


Stomach is a sack-like body organ where the food is transported in the early stage of digestion and stomach plays an important role in this process. Steroids cause stomach irritation and lead you to bouts of vomiting sometimes with blood.
