How to Avoid Procrastination

Procrastination is a habit or a tendency to delay what should have done already, it causes trouble later on when you feel you should have done with your work first. People with this habit, actually to some extent we all do this, knowing that we have to complete our targeted work by the given time but still we waste time on checking our social media accounts, THINKING, gossiping and other stuff but fail to concentrate on work/study until the short time is left.

Don’t wait for the Perfect time

A procrastinator waits for the “right time”, some of them say they work or learn best under pressure, well these are all excuses. You know you have to do it, why not doing it now and enjoy your free time later?

Get Motivated

All you need right now is getting motivated. There are three ways you can get motivation.


  1. Negative Reinforcement – take away something bad from you if you complete a task in given time.
  2. Positive reinforcement – Treat yourself with what you love if you completes a task in given time.
  3. Punishment – use punishment when the above mention methods don’t work.

Think about the goals

One of the best motivational approaches to get moving or avoiding procrastination is thinking about the desired goal. For example a good student will get motivation to study hard for getting good scores.

Get to work

Procrastination is all about ‘merely thinking’ or ‘only planning to work‘and not following. So don’t just think or plan get started right away.

Make a to-do list

Making a to-do list helps a lot in evaluating how much work you have left to do and how much you have done with, make a to-do list to know you need to work now.

Manage time

Before all of your precious time is stolen, use it properly. Don’t get distracted and try to complete all your tasks in time so you won’t have to worry about it later.

Get rid of the DISTRACTIONS

Distractions when you have to work/study are the booster for procrastination, remove all the distractions or stay away from them. Keep your cell phone off when you are studying, doesn’t browse unnecessarily and don’t sign in to your social media.

Take breaks

Don’t be a procrastinator neither be a workaholic to stress out yourself. When you work keep on getting small breaks to get refreshed.

Never do multi-tasking

Multi-tasking is also a kind of distraction from one work to another, so at one time focus on one thing.
