Constipation is not an illness; it is just a problem. In this situation you face delayed, compact and difficult to pass movements of bowel.
What happens in constipation?
When you confront constipation, it feels like everything in your body is sending you the signals that the time has come to move your bowels but you find nothing is being moved. It makes you feel quite uncomfortable and bloated and when you try to go, nothing happens or if does, it hurts.
What are the causes of constipation?
Constipation may occur due to many different reasons. Some of these reasons include:
- Lack of exercise and physical activity
- Usage of artificial sweeteners
- Certain medications
- Diet which lacks fibers and fluid
- Overuse of laxatives
Certain medical conditions may also cause constipation such as diabetes, cancer etc. and it is also caused due to age factor. The older you are, the more prone you are to the problem.
Constipation is when you have less than three bowel movements in a week. Sometimes it’s chronic and sometimes just happens occasionally.
Natural remedies to treat constipation
To know the way of treatment of constipation, first you need to understand the reasons of constipation. It depends on the severity of case that how to treat the problem. Either it is chronic and need some medical treatment or can be cured at home. Here are a few natural methods which may help you in getting rid of constipation:
Oranges are not only enriched in vitamin C but they are also loaded with high amount of fibers. Eating orange provides you relief from constipation. In order to cure constipation, you need to eat at least two oranges a day. Once in the morning and the other in the evening. Eating them without peeling off the white threads make them more effective.
Raisins are great natural laxatives and loaded with fibers which are good at curing constipation.eating raisins work wonder especially for pregnant women. It leaves no side effects of medication. All you have to do is to soak a handful of raisins overnight. Eat them in the morning as the very first thing, with an empty stomach.
Guavas contain soluble fiber in their pulp and insoluble fiber in their seeds. They help in relieving constipation by producing mucus in the anus a series of contractions within the intestinal lining which helps in passage of food in the stomach.
Lemon juice is a great way to detox your body. It acts as a cleansing agent in your intestines. It contains the salt content which helps in easy passage of stool.
Mix a teaspoon of lemon juice in a glass of warm water and add a pinch of salt to the solution. Drink the mixture on an empty stomach in order to relieve the constipation.
Figs are used in two forms, dried and ripe. Both these types are rich in fiber and act as natural laxative. They are good for curing constipation. Boil a few figs in a glass of milk and drink the mixture before going to bed at night. Drink the mixture when it is warm.
There are syrups commercially available, avoid using them rather you should use a whole fruit for getting rid of constipation.
Castor oil is the content which has been used for centuries as remedy for constipation. It has the properties to kill the intestinal worms. Drinking a tablespoon of castor oil works wonder but it is something you may not like so you can add a tablespoon of it in a warm glass of milk. Take the milk at night before going to bed. It will help you a lot in relieving constipation.
Flaxseeds are loaded with fibers and when it comes to the constipation, they work surprisingly well. You can mix the seeds in your cereal every morning or can eat a handful of seeds with warm water in the early morning.
