Ways to Brush your Teeth Without Toothpaste

It is very essential to take good care of your teeth and gums. Oral hygiene includes washing, brushing and flossing your teeth. Usually brushing is done with toothpaste which often contains artificial flavoring, sweeteners and preservatives. Sometimes people prefer to use a more natural option for cleaning their teeth rather than using toothpaste. There are a few substitutes you can use in the place of toothpaste.

Dry brushing

In order to remove food particles and plaque from your mouth you can do dry brushing or by using only water. It is not effective in eliminating mouth odors but it help in reducing the chances of gum diseases. For odor you can use some flavored mouth freshener. Using teas also might help such as peppermint tea.

Using sea salt

Brushing simply with water and sea salt also might helpful in cleaning your teeth and gums. Simply make your toothbrush wet and add a pinch of salt on its bristles. Apply more sea salt on your brush if it get dries before you are finishes brushing.

White clay

You can also clean your mouth by using white clay. Mix the grinded clay with sea salt, just boiled water and peppermint oil. Mix all of these and make a paste. Use small amount of each, Take a 100 grams of white clay, a few drops of peppermint oil, a pinch of salt and enough water to make a cream like paste. Clay helps in preventing tooth decay and making your teeth stronger.

Hydrogen peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide can also be used for the cleanliness of your mouth. Use it with a concentration of maximum 3%. Soak our toothbrush bristles in the liquid and brush your teeth. It helps in cleaning and whitening your teeth. It also helps in periodontal diseases. You can also use hydrogen peroxide with baking soda and sea salt.

Don’t use hydrogen peroxide to clean your teeth if you have amalgam fillings as it may leach mercury from your fillings.

Water

You can clean your mouth by using water alone. This is the easiest and quickest way to clean your mouth. Simply take a glass of water, take a sip and swish eater around your mouth. It helps in loosening up any dirt on your teeth and in the mouth. Spit the water out and repear for 4-5 times after each meal.

Paper Towel

You can wrap paper towel around your finger and rub it on your teeth as a tooth brush, It works wonder. It can clean food particles and plaque from your teeth.

Baking soda

Baking soda has whitening properties and you can make your teeth clean and white by cleaning them with it. A lot of people use baking soda as teeth cleaner. You can mix it in little water and rub on your teeth and then rinse with water. Don’t swallow it. If you add a small quantity of salt in it, it works even better. You can also add a few drops of peppermint oil for giving it a minty flavor.

Flossing

Not other than the brushing, it should be an essential part of your daily routine on order to keep your teeth clean. It is a great way to remove plaque and debris from in between your teeth. Swilling water around your mouth after flossing can be quite helpful, make sure no dirt has left in your mouth.

Oil-Pulling

Oil pulling is the method which had been using in ancient times, but now it is gaining popularity again. You need to take a teaspoon of oil (sesame or coconut oil) in your mouth and swill it around properly. It lifts the toxins from your mouth and makes your teeth clean and white.
