Why You Should Not Throw Away Eggshells?

No doubt, eggs are widely used all around the world. They are used in breakfasts, meals and desserts in everyday life and it will not be wrong if we say that at the end of the day, we are left with lots of eggshells.

Eggshells are made of calcium carbonate, hard but easily breakable. They come up with countless uses. Egg shells are generally thrown without realizing that we are wasting something which is very useful.

Uses of Eggshells:

There are countless surprising uses of eggshells. Take a look at the various uses of the eggshells we consider no more than the trash:

Use them as face Mask:

Eggshells can be used as face mask. You can use it simply by grinding the egg shell and mixing it with egg white. Blend it and apply on your face. It makes your skin smooth and shiny.

Use as pot cleaner:

 

You will not find any pot cleaner stronger than the eggshells. Crush the egg shells into the form of the powder and pour it into soapy water or the liquid you use you wash your pots. Now wash them with this mixture.

Use to remove coffee stains:

If your mugs have coffee stains, you can remove them easily by using eggshells. Put ground egg shell in the mug and pour hot water in it. Leave it for overnight. Wash in the morning. You will find no stain there.

Use to treat wounds:

Eggshell membrane is very useful for preventing infection in a wound and healing it. If somebody gets a cut or wound, simply wrap the egg membrane around it. It can be a great bandage.

Keep your plants safe from pests:

Nothing ruins your garden the way pests do. If you crush the eggshells and throw them near your plants, pests will not come near them. Slugs, snails and cutworms won’t spoil your plants.

If you want to keep your white clothes in their original white color then you can use eggshells. Combine eggshells with a few lemon slices in a bag made of cloth. Put it in your washing machine along with all the other clothes. It will keep them white for longer.

Adding eggshells in soil makes the soil more fertilized because they are composed into compost pile quickly and contain calcium and some other minerals which fertilize the soil.

Put a few eggshells in the strainer of your kitchen sink. Additional solids are trapped and broken down by eggshells and the pipe on the way down the drain naturally gets cleaned up.

Put an eggshell in a bottle of apple cider vinegar and leave it for 2 to 3 days. Let it get dissolved into the vinegar. Afterwards, whenever you get irritated skin, apply the vinegar on it. You will get instant relief from itching.

Use as seedling starter:

Make a small hole in the bottom of the eggshell. Put soil in it and add the seeds. When your seedling grows up, transfer it to the ground or to a large pot.
