Personal Hygiene Guide for Kids


Kids are very good at getting dirty either from playing in mud, using their sauce-smeared hands to itch and scratch, wiping their nose etc. this is the best age which your child should be taught the healthy hygienic activities. It takes time to learn but after practicing these activities repeatedly, they become habitual to those hygienic practices. Getting familiar with this guide would definitely help your kind in adopting useful hygiene habits and there will be a time when they would be able to take much care of themselves even in your absence.

Hand washing is not enough, there is more hygiene than this but it is no doubt a good start. You must make a routine of healthy hygiene so that your kids may create those habits. Here is our complete guide that would help in creating good hygiene habits on your child:

Hand washing

This is the first and very integral part of good hygiene. As k your children to wash their hands before and after meals, after playing, after touching their pets and after meeting someone who is ill. Washing hands is the best way to eliminate the germs.

Hair Washing

Most of the children don’t like getting their hair washed and they get their hair washed two or three times a week. Washing hair for 3-4 times is perfect because frequent washing can lead to dry out the scalp of your children which may cause dandruff. At the time of puberty, the hormonal effects can make their hair oily. Washing them with a good shampoo in the other day is essential.


Children can’t learn how to take bath in the very early age when they are not even able to scrub in the tub. They either love it or hate it. But letting them take bath and helping them in bathing may make them capable of maintaining a habit. Make them feel that taking bath is an amusing way of getting clean. Even in those days when they don’t need to shampoo their hair, you can make them bath into a fun game. Have your kid put on is bathing suit and plop into the tub. Make him learn how to take bath step by step.

Oral Hygiene

Oral cleaning is of utmost importance as it prevents you from dangerous diseases including cardiovascular disease and gums diseases in future. Make them brush and floss at least twice a day.

Skin Care

Skin care is very important and children need their parents to help them with it. Skin care mat protect you from rashes, scabs and bumps. Before getting your child dressed up after having taken the bath, help him in looking over their whole skin to make sure that there are no new marks on their skin.


Dirty nails help in producing and growing bacteria. Germs living there can access very easily to all the other parts of the skin such as mouth nose or eyes. Buy your child a good nail brush and help them in scrubbing the dirt out of their nails before bed time. Ity will help reducing the dirt and so the germs.


After getting your child toilet-trained, make it their habit to keep their little parts neat and clean. Teach them how to wife thoroughly from back to front and ask them to wash their hands when they are done.

Taking care of underarms

Many of the teens and children ignore to wash their underarms and wearing deodorant. Sweat starts to produce odor at the age of 9 to 10 years. Guide your child about the importance of washing their underarms and keep them clean and odor-free. Depending on how heavily your child sweats, you may want to choose an antiperspirant, not just a deodorant.
